Of course you want the best for your child and you have already discovered that there are quite a few different opinions about nutrition. But what exactly is healthy for your child?
The most important thing is to vary your diet (the Dutch diet can be quite monotonous and boring), to take sufficient vitamins and minerals and of course to focus on organic and pure food. Try to give your child an egg, humus on bread or a piece of pepper. Children are curious, also about food. Let them smell mint leaves (which you use in tea or in a yoghurt sauce), and let them taste all kinds of things they are not familiar with.
It is wise to familiarize children with healthy food from an early age onwards. They will benefit from it later, and will be conscious about what they eat when they are older.
*An interesting investigation involving two large groups of children has been undertaken recently. It’s all about the benefits of organic food. The research shows that children who eat biological food are significantly more healthy, not because this type of food by definition contains more vitamins and minerals (though the odds are quite high), but because non biological food is processed, and consequently contains substances which can harm the body.
During the intake (60 min.) we will listen carefully to your questions, wishes and we will assess your knowledge about natural food. A food diary is being kept only in the case of older children, the reason being that we will not recommend young children to go on a diet. We will always advise a varied diet and one consisting of many types of healthy food.
Basically, you want your baby, toddler or preschooler to eat sufficient nutrients. Your knowledge about organic food, and its simple preparation methods, is already of great importance.
